Diese bittere Message [see below] von Barry Steinhardt, Executive Director der American Civil Liberties Union, eine Message, die vieles über die mentale Verfassung weiter Teile der USA sagt, leiten wir gerne weiter. Seit 1995 setzt sich Barry besonders engagiert für eine enge Zusammenarbeit der ACLU mit europäischen cyber/civil liberties Organisationen in Sachen Free Speech und Privacy ein.

Dies zu betonen, hat in diesen Vorkriegszeiten einen guten Grund. Immer dann, wenn sich irgendeine so genannte Nation XXX seitens Regierung und Bürokratie besonders kriegsgeil, prahlerisch und halbstark aufführt - wird die sich dafür genierende Opposition des Landes XXX ein zweites Mal gedemütigt. Wenn sie im Netz international von vielen Seiten dann so etwas zu lesen kriegen: Das sei wieder einmal typisch für diese XXXer, von dort sei noch nie was Gutes hergekommen, und überhaupt sei XXX bewohnt von einer oberflächlichen und kulturlosen Bande von Angebern und schießgeilen Rowdies.

As you know, your office has now been assigned to this Department. It has come to my attention that, in the coming month, you are uniquely situated to help prevent terrorism, as follows:

1. Information-gathering Upon inquiry, children will be happy to tell you about any Arab families in their neighborhood or at school. You may promise any toy in exchange for this information (push the guns).

2. List analysis Do the items requested identify the child as an immigrant, particularly one from the Mideast? And don't concern yourself with "naught or nice" we'll make that decision under our new "naughty until proven nice" principle.

3. Home surveillance We understand you have wide-ranging access, unfettered by the fourth amendment, to homes across the country. Use your visits to inspect for any signs of terror or conspiracy. Install hidden surveillance cameras in suspicious (read: all) households.
