Tückisches Certification Program von MS

Wer als technischer Provider (nicht: Content Provider) von Windows-Media-9-Angeboten ein Zertifikat von Microsoft haben will, muss nicht nur Windows DRM und Live DRM implementieren und eine ganze Reihe von MS-Produkten einsetzen, sondern auch Einblick in potenzielle Geschäftsgeheimnisse gewähren. Ist da noch wichtig, was bei dem "Eligibility Interview" gefragt wird?

Microsoft hat den Launch des "Windows Media(R) 9 Series Hosting Provider Certification Program" bekanntgegeben. Wer ein solches Zertifikat habensmöchte, muss eine lange Liste von Voraussetzungen erfüllen.

Other requirements for certification include the following:
-- Offering full end-to-end implementation of Windows Media 9 Series technology including support for live and on-demand streaming, server-side playlists with advertising, and Windows Media Digital Rights Management including Live DRM
-- Demonstrating significant Windows Media 9 Series hosting capacity withat least 20 servers running Windows Media Services 9 Series on Windows .NET Server 2003 Enterprise Edition deployed at all times and the availability of 8 Gbps of aggregate throughput
-- Providing proven developer expertise for creating custom server-side plug-ins with Windows Media Services 9 Series
-- Hosting support for Microsoft(R) Producer for PowerPoint(R) 2003 content

Program Requirements
Eligibility interview with Microsoft

Corporate Status
Minimum 2 years operating in the capacity of large-scale Hosting Provider
Provide 5 customer references (will remain confidential and will not be used in any public situation)
Ability to host U.S.-wide or U.S.-wide and additional continents (Asia, Europe)

Software Requirements
Obtain certification on Windows Media 9 Series
Maintain minimum 20 servers streaming running Windows .NET Enterprise Server 2003 within 90 days of certification
Develop minimum of 1 custom plug-in within 90 days of certification
If in-house encoding is done, Windows Media Encoder 9 Series and corresponding codecs and profiles must be used

Scalability Requirements
Support Live and On-Demand streaming and downloading on WM9S
Support Windows DRM for Live and On-Demand scenarios
Support Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2003
Support bit rates up to 750 Kbps or greater
Support aggregate throughput of 8Gbps or greater

Provide Stream Verification Report
The approved partner is Streamcheck (additional details will be provided at registration)
