Unisys: "Keine Jagd auf unlizensierte GIFs"

Die Nachricht, Unisys verlange von nicht.kommerziellen
Netzanbieter 5000 USD, wenn diese GIF-Images verwenden, die mit
Software erstellt wurden, deren Hersteller keine Royalties für die
Unisys-Patente zur GIF-Komprimierung bezahlt haben, hatte
ziemlichen Wirbel ausgelöst und bis zum Prädikat "Enemy of the
Net" geführt.
Unisys sagt, man werde keine systematische Jagd auf unlizenzierte
GIFs und deren womöglich nichts ahnenden Besitzer veranstalten.
Die 5000 USD Einmal-Lizenz sei nur ein Angebot, um allen die
Möglichkeit zu geben, sich rechtlich abzusichern.
